Cyclorise Ceases Trading, and other industry news

In a year where it’s hard to keep up with all the industry news, we’ve got a quick round up on recent developments for you:

Goodbye Cyclorise

First up, it’s been reported that Cyclorise – the UK distributor for Revel Bikes, RevGrips and Timber! Bells, among other products, has ceased trading. We’ve received the following email, which went out this week, reading:

“It is with a heavy heart that I write to inform you that Cyclorise Ltd has ceased trading.

“Both Sian and I [Tom] would like to thank all of our customers for the high levels of support you have shown us in the last 7 years.

“We sincerely apologise to any customers who have outstanding orders with us. We will be in touch with you all individually in the coming weeks.”

Their Instagram account has been removed and the website says ‘down for maintenance’.

As a small and enthusiastic operation, and our source of Timber! Bells over the years, we’ve always enjoyed our interactions with the folks at Cyclorise, including hearing of how having a child and gradually discovering the changing joys of riding with a child brings new experiences to mountain biking. We wish Sian, Tom and family well in whatever comes next.

PON Group Restructure Continuing?

Other news we’ve spotted this week is that PON Group is reported to be closing its CSG operations in the UK. Until recently, CSG was the distributor for GT, but that has now shifted to ‘Pon Bike Performance’, which now also distributes Santa Cruz and Cervelo. This leaves CSG with brands such as Cannondale, Mongoose, and Schwinn. However, indications are that Cannondale at least will be continuing to have a presence of some sort in the UK.

Raleigh UK Drops Parts and Accessories

In a move that narrows the available suppliers for local bike shops, Raleigh has dropped its Parts and Accessories function. That means the brands like MET, Bluegrass and Stans will be looking for new UK distributors. Raleigh UK and Moore Large, who went into administration earlier this year, were important suppliers, particularly for smaller bike shops. They’ll now be looking to source new accounts for workshop spares, as well as helmets and other products.

Wiggle CRC uncertainty continues

As Wiggle CRC and other SIGNA Sports brands continue through the administration process, we’ve seen a wave of redundancies across the industry. Some long term friends or STW have taken new roles, while others are still there holding the fort and waiting to hear if there’ll be a buy out or rescue package that will secure their jobs. We wish everyone well as they head to pastures new, or play the waiting game.
