Vote Now! Best Mountain Bike Personality – Singletrack World Awards 2023

Who has worked the hardest, raced the fastest, championed the most or just helped enable more of us to get out and ride. Who has inspired you the most in the last 12 months?

Thanks for all your nominations, here’s who made the finals…

Gee Atherton

[ NB: this nomination and vaildation was written before Gee’s massive crash at Rampage this week ] Even though it’s hardly a secret, the true extent of Gee’s injuries and extensive road to recovery is still arguably glossed over (not least by the man himself). He’s now at Rampage. WTF.

Rachel Atherton

What a comeback! Straight back on the bike at world level after time out with injury and then pregnancy and motherhood. Rachel Atherton stepped back onto the race scene as an apparently changed person – less focused racer, more rounded human. But her skills on the bike were the same as ever. First in Lenzerheide. Third in Leogang. And then flashes of the past at Fort William as she dislocated her shoulder in practice. A demonstration that she’s still got that determined racing edge, she popped it back in and went on to finish eighth overall in the World Championships.

Jackson Goldstone

From his first-year-in-Elite results alone Jackson Goldstone deserves a spot in this list. The fact that he’s also spent so much time off-track in various medical facilities is insane (as Rob Warner would say). And how about his/the final race run of the whole World Cup season at Mont-Sainte-Anne? Wow.

Hattie Harnden

Hattie Harnden is dominant in several disciplines, yet so humble you’d barely believe her list of achievements – which includes national titles in CX, XCO and (this year) DH. She is a friendly and approachable rider, always happy to talk to fans, and inspiringly focused on her career whilst appearing to enjoy the process.

Tom Pidcock

At 23 years old to have swept up as many victories as Tom has is a huge achievement in itself. The fact he wins big through every cycling discipline he enters makes his career all the more impressive. Always entertaining in interviews, honest on social media and forever surprising us, Tom Pidcock is a great character to represent Britain.
