Bespoked, taking place 14-16th October in London, celebrates hand built bikes and their makers. Sometimes those makers are making bits for bikes, as well as whole bikes. Here, we’ve got a frame builder who has also designed a 3D printable bike fit tool. If you’ve got a niggling ache after a ride, maybe this is what you need?
Berkshire based Darren Ryden builds one-off bikes in steel and stainless steel. He’s in the process of building a road bike for Bespoked, but we think you might like another project of his: 3D printing instructions for a bike fit tool.

Both the tool printing instructions and the app to go with it are free! You just need to buy your own ruler and one nut and bolt. If you don’t have a 3D printer (or patience), he is selling them on his website. He says ‘I’m not trying to make money from this, it just covers costs of running the printers and maybe a few beers’. Fair enough.

Once you’ve printed (or bought) your tool, there’s an app to help you through the measuring process. Darren says ‘The methods being used to measure are the same as what idmatch is using, and also what the international bike fit institute is promoting to bike fitters now.

The bike that will be shown at Bespoked will be a stainless steel XCr road bike designed for long rides around the English countryside. Finished with custom paintwork by Quinntessential Customs Workshop with a Lucienne Day inspired design. It incorporates stainless steel 3d printed components to enable fully internal cable routing, and features cut and welded stainless seat stays to create additional tyre clearance.
