DMBinS Launch Scottish MTB Ride Guide with Decathlon

DMBinS Launch Scottish MTB Ride Guide with Decathlon

Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland (DMBinS) has announced the launch of their new Scottish MTB ride guide. Created in partnership with Decathlon, the guide is aimed at people new to the sport.

The guide details where to ride, what to wear, what to think about before riding and more. This kind of initiative should ensure people who are new to mountain biking will know what to expect. This is another example of how DMBinS are pushing the sport. This guide, and working with a wider network should help to raise the profile of MTB.

The release reads:

Scottish MTB Ride Guide

Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland (DMBinS) and Decathlon, are launching a new resource aimed at promoting mountain biking/off-road cycling. The goal is to provide key information in bitesize format – perfect for those new to the sport.

The increase in people looking for new adventures closer to home and seeking new ways to enjoy the outdoors, largely as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, has seen an astronomical rise in the numbers looking to try cycling and mountain biking, either for the first time, or renewing a former passion.

It was recognised that there was an opportunity to reach out to a new audience. To help them make the right choices around what kit they need and the opportunities for riding across Scotland. It will also help inform them of their rights and responsibilities when adventuring on two wheels.

As a result, DMBinS have worked with Decathlon to help provide their customers, and those would-be mountain bikers, with all the information they needed to get started, via our handy Scottish MTB Ride Guide.

A New Partnership

We were extremely keen to be involved with Decathlon on this exciting and timely project. The rise in the number of people accessing the outdoors and venturing into our trail centres, countryside and wild spaces by bike has been incredible. Part of our role within DMBinS is to increase participation in our sport in a sustainable way. As well as spreading messages of good practice and highlighting our rights and responsibilities, as to how we access the outdoors.

There are so many opportunities for great riding here in Scotland. From purpose-built trail centres and tracks to natural adventures that make the most of our progressive outdoor access legislation. This opportunity to reach a large number of people, many of whom are new to the sport, and provide them with the best places to ride, things they need to consider and information about our responsibilities as we do so, was warmly welcomed.

We recognised that Decathlon are a fantastic option for people who are accessing a sport for the first time, or are trying a second hobby! We look forward to supporting Decathlon through this launch and getting this message out to as many people as possible.

We are delighted to have worked with the team at DMBinS to produce this new resource. The guide provides advice to those trying out mountain biking for the first time. The information will help people make the right choices for kit and will give them what they need to get the best out of their experiences. It will show them the best places to ride and help them make the most of their holidays at home.

Not too good about writing about myself, but not so bad at writing about other things. There was a time that I hated bikes, but then they became my life. Wouldn't be the person I am if I hadn't been on this journey. Here's to bikes, drinking tea and everything that comes with life on two wheels. I'm Lauren, I like bikes and writing about them. Always trying my best and up for adventures.
