Specialized has just announced the launch of Jett, its new range of adjustable kids’ bikes. Available in 16, 20 and 24″ wheel sizes. Designed to last around 30 months, you can adjust as they grow with two crank positions (on the 20 and 24″ multispeed bikes), adjustable handlebars and a long seatpost.
We asked, and parents told us they want a bike that fits their kids for about 30 months or three summers. Our teams did their research and found that kids ages 5-12 grow in their arms and legs faster than their torso. So, we needed to make a bike that was proportional and adjustable for quickly growing arms and legs to achieve the perfect fit multiple times in the bike’s lifetime.
Specialized Bikes
The Jett models are recommended for the following heights:
- 16” SS: 95cm – 121cm
- 20” SS or Jett 20” MS: 102cm – 132cm
- 24” MS: 109cm – 147cm

“Components may seem like minor details, but the kids’ study proved that they make a world of difference for our riders. A kids-specific saddle and narrow q-factor crank create hip-knee-ankle alignment. This helps to avoid knee pain and improve pedalling power—so riders can pedal further, faster. Narrower grips and short-reach brake levers allow for better control and maneuverability, inspiring more confidence in riders. These components were developed so kids can ride in capable comfort.”

- The Jett Multispeed models come with gears. The 20” Multispeed comes with a 7-speed drivetrain and the Jett 24” Multispeed comes with an 8-speed drivetrain.
- Jett 24” MS is 9.39kg/20.5 lbs. The Jett 20” MS is 8.76kg or 19.3lbs.
- The seatpost is about 60mm longer than the seatposts typically stocked on kids bikes. For example, the Jett 20” has a 280mm seatpost.
- The Jett is equipped with Pathfinder 2.0” tires.

Ground-breaking stuff… the saddle goes up, the bars can be rolled forwards. OK, the alternative pedal position is useful, but maybe they could rediscover the quill stem?
Yeah, when I saw ‘adjustable bike’ I was thinking a frame with a single downtube that telescoped, to increase the distance from Bb to headset (stack+reach diagonal).
This design is useful for non biking parents, but for biker families, who cares about the seatpost length, I have a drawer full of those, or can buy a new one cheaply. Same with stems.
The Orbea Grow range works like that.
Looks like Specialized will be muscling in on Isla bikes, trying to replicate their USP of proper sizing and adjustment for dinky people…
