What are you all riding? This is where we find out! You send us your submissions, and then we cast our judgemental expert lustful eyes over them and bring them to the world to ooh and ahh over. We’re picking the prettiest, the most curious, and the ones with a good story for you to appraise, praise, and maybe look wistfully at. This week’s bike caught our attention because we like the ‘I know exactly what I want…oh!’ twist in the story.
Why this bike?
I had been hunting for the perfect bike for some time and had a few criteria I knew I wanted: Hardtail, due to both cost and preference. 27.5″ wheels, just cos 29 seemed too big and I preferred the idea of smaller & lighter, being used to 26″. Not a steel frame, because I’m not really a fan of the thin straight tubed retroish look they usually have. Give me nice swoopy hydroformed alu any day.
Then I saw this, and fell in love!

I had the frame sitting in my loft for a long time, slowly saving up to get the rest of it while I rode my current bike, the cheap but good Calibre Two.Two.
Then my bike was stolen, very upsetting but had a silver lining in that the new for old insurance paid out considerably more than I’d bought it for originally! The Calibre had a great spec for its price and was no longer available to buy. I got hold of all the bits needed for the new build luckily just before Brexit (they were mostly from Germany) and the Great Bike Part Shortage of 2021.
Have you ever thought you knew exactly what you wanted only to be lured away by something completely different? Head to the comments!

While you’re here, we’d like to draw your attention to our World Bicycle Relief fundraiser. If you’ve experienced the joy of a new bike day, you’ll know how great it is. Now imagine you get given a bike, and it changes your life, giving you and your family access to education, employment or healthcare. Through World Bicycle Relief, you’ve got the power to make that happen, and if you can spare a little, we invite you to make your donation here.
Very nice that. Always wanted one of those. I had the Gulf Shan 917 but currently have the PP Oka.
Lovely bikes.
That is a cracking bike, the kind of bike you see when you go into your garage or shed and it makes you want to go out for a ride.
@kayak23 Finding the Oka is actually how I first came across PP, I loved that black & yellow version but it was already discontinued at the time.
It’s sad how they seem to have dropped the car themed paint jobs, the new bikes are boring 🙁
I’d buy the balance bike like a shot if they still did one matching to this haha
if only they still sold their bikes as a frame only option 🙁
Loving the colour scheme, what’s the inspiration for it? Please say Barry Sheene
