Derbyshire based Stanton Bikes is working on a carbon swingarm for its range of steel full-suspension bikes.
Stanton Bikes might be best known for producing steel and Titanium frames, but the Derbyshire based company is now dabbling in fantastic plastic.
In Instagram posts from last week and earlier today, Stanton has shown off a carbon fibre rear triangle that has been designed to fit the range of full-suspension bikes the company manufactures.
The Stanton Switch 9erFS, Switchback FS 140 and Switchback FS 160, all feature steel front triangles bolted to alloy rear ends via chunky CNC alloy linkages, but if these teasers are anything to go by, a carbon option could be available soon.

From the images, it isn’t clear if the rear ends have already been produced or if these are renders of an concept, but the company does say that work on the carbon rear triangle has been “happening longer than you think”.

The social media posts also point out that the carbon components are manufactured in-house, joining the team’s already busy steel, titanium and powder-coating manufacturing lines.
Compared to the alloy rear triangle, the carbon option could be lighter in weight, but would also be the perfect starting point to test the viability of carbon manufacture, and the possibility of a complete carbon Stanton frame in the future.
