It looks more like a charmed life than a dog’s life, but we’ll bite back the envy, ignore the branding shots, and enjoy Brendan Fairclough going out to play. Episode 1 of his new video series takes him to Madeira, surely one of the hottest new MTB destinations to emerge in recent years.
Lush vegetation, lush riding and a bit of a splash. A far cry from the old folk’s all-inclusive holidays and dry cake that we might previously have associated with the island.

What do you think? Looking forward to the rest of the series?
I came to Singletrack having decided there must be more to life than meetings. I like all bikes, but especially unusual ones.
More than bikes, I like what bikes do. I think that they link people and places; that cycling creates a connection between us and our environment; bikes create communities; deliver freedom; bring joy; and improve fitness. They're environmentally friendly and create friendly environments.
I try to write about all these things in the hope that others might discover the joy of bikes too.

It feels like a while since we’ve had a proper good series. This is Peaty was great, as was Brandon Semenuk’s Life Behind Bars. The Syndicate has been occasionally good, but now they are more corporate marketing exercises most feel a little samey. I will give this a go though, as Brendog is always great to watch.
Just watched it. That was just over three minutes well spent!
Looks great – was it paid for by the Madeira tourist board, as it certainly makes me want to visit… Does a really good job of showing excellent (but not too hard for us normal riders) trails in a lovely looking place
