Day and Night Enduro Embraces the Scottish February Darkness

…and cold, and rain, and maybe even snow!

Seeing as mountain bikers in far northern latitudes spend a good portion of their year riding in the dark, the mad folks at MoreMTB decided that they might as well celebrate Scotland’s long (and cold, and wet) nights. Scheduled for 6 February at Ae in Dumfriesshire, the Day and Night Enduro features two timed stages – each raced once during the day and once after dark for a total of four segments contributing to standings.

Goggles? Check. Half-lid? Check. Bleak winter conditions? Er…

Not only home to one of the best and most popular tracks on the British DH circuit, Ae Forest also “boasts a plethora of secret trails and enduro perfect routes.”  Despite taking on some of the woods’ more challenging terrain, MoreMTB’s emphasis remains on having a good time.  The organisers note that  “it might be cold, muddy, possibly icy and even snowy (this is Scotland after all) but it’ll be good fun.”  That sort of a good time.  (While amateurs are welcomed, the terrain and conditions may be less-than-fun for beginners, who are warned off.)

Race entries are available now at a rather reasonable £40, and a license is not required to compete. As of Sunday Midnight, there were seven early bird tickets remaining at £30. For more information or to enter head to www.more-mtb.com.
