It’s no secret that we vicariously enjoy the products of Moscow’s Triton Bikes.  Last night something interesting popped up on the company’s Facebook page- so we got in touch for the details.
Not, as we’d half-hoped, a titanium thru-axle upgrade: what you see above is a dropout spacer used to protect new thru-axle Triton frames in transit. Triton employee Vladimir Dybok was playing around recently, practicing anodizing on some leftover 3/4″ titanium tubes. The guys at the shop quickly realised that the tubes could be used for shipping- and what video game fans would call an “Easter egg” was born.
Customer response at this little bonus was–unsurprisingly–extremely positive. While Triton’s frames are reasonably priced as far as custom Ti goes, anyone not looking to spend into four figures can contact the company to purchase a spacer for roughly $15 (£10).
