NEC Cycle Show 2015 – What the…?

A few of the intriguing nuggets of purest WTF we cam across when wandering the aisles at the Birmingham NEC Cycle Show…

DSC_1598Check out the chain, people. Check out the chain. Or rather the strings. DSC_1598 (1)THE STRINGS.DSC_1598 (2)

THE STRINGS!!

DSC_1624Never mind what you feel about E-bikes – you want one of these, don’t you?
DSC_1625And I’m not totally sure what this bit does (a radiator??), but I love it anyway.
DSC_1608Citroen bar? Yes, please.

DSC_1604A recumbent trike with wacky suspension wheels. I’d love a go, but I’m unconvinced about cornering…

DSC_0019Dirt jumps inside? Right by the restaurant? Olly from DMR makes everyone go OOOH. And then run for a burger.

Barney Marsh takes the word ‘career’ literally, veering wildly across the road of his life, as thoroughly in control as a goldfish on the dashboard of a motorhome. He’s been, with varying degrees of success, a scientist, teacher, shop assistant, binman and, for one memorable day, a hospital laundry worker. These days, he’s a dad, husband, guitarist, and writer, also with varying degrees of success. He sometimes takes photographs. Some of them are acceptable. Occasionally he rides bikes to cast the rest of his life into sharp relief. Or just to ride through puddles. Sometimes he writes about them. Bikes, not puddles. He is a writer of rongs, a stealer of souls and a polisher of turds. He isn’t nearly as clever or as funny as he thinks he is.

  1. Strings? = brain melt. As an aside, is there is single Citroen H van left in the world that hasn’t become a retro-chic catering van?

  2. I liked the string bikes, but felt that the best application for it would be on the 3 wheel recumbent, (which leans into corners, so no falling off worries)

  3. Really original thinking,it would be good to see power efficiency stats to compare it with a standard chain propelled bike
