We sent Marcus Farley to catch up with Kevin Menard, joint owner of Transition bikes to talk about their new line up of bikes, ‘GiddyUp’ suspension platforms, and their very sweet local Washington State trails where the bikes were designed and tested.

ST: Tell us the Transition bikes story
KM: Transition was started in 2001 and is owned by myself and Kyle Young. We are both 50% each owners. Kyle has a business degree and focuses on management of product development, operations, as well as financials of the company and I have a marketing background so I manage the Sales and Marketing departments. There are a total of 10 people that work here to make things happen on a day to day basis. Most of the guys  have been here for several years and will probably retire someday with us. We pride ourselves on having a work environment that is fun to come to everyday and we all feel more like family than coworkers.

ST: Finally, your local Washington State trails look amazing. Who builds and maintains them?
KM: A group called the WMBC (whatcom mountain bike coalition) builds and maintains them. I am on the board of that group and heavily involved in it. It’s a great organisation and I’m proud to be involved with them.  More info at www.wmbcmtb.org
I’ve never owned one, but there’s something super-likeable about Transition.
Must earn more so that I can afford a Ripcord for my youngest!
As a Transition Bandit owner, I approve this message.
Covert owner here, great bike from a great company.
The Patrol is tempting but I can’t justify it.
Two Coverts and a Trans-AM in this household – great fun bikes to ride and Transition Bikes’ sense of humour makes me laugh!
Orange Patrol- mmmmm!
Stunning looking kit
