New App for Singletrack Premier Subscribers

New App for Singletrack Premier Subscribers

There’s a new app in the Apple App Store just for our subscribers. We’ve been sending out plastic members’ cards to our subscribers for many years now. A card that unlocks an ever growing number of great deals, offers and special treatment at bike shops and businesses around the country.

From exclusive discounts off bike holidays and top hotels to cake and coffee while you wait for your bike to be serviced, these are just some of the great deals on offer as a Singletrack Premier Subscriber. Now, all you need to access your members’ card details is a phone. Well, an iPhone at the moment but the Android version will happen soon too.

Not only does our new app store your subscriber details so you can flash it in your local bike shop but it also tells you where your nearest Premier dealer is and even plots a direct route there for you.

Click on any Premier dealer in the list and the app will give you full contact details along with the exclusive offer each one offers to our Premier members.

Just login to the app using your account details for this site.

Non-Apple users can still flash a digital version of their members card by visiting their online members card here.

Getting your details in our app is easy. Just subscribe. A monthly sub costs just £1.49 – no minimum term, cancel when you like. While you are a member you can access all the deals from our Premier partners as well as full access to our digital mag archive, our digital mag app and all the premier features on this site. 1. On that webpage version for the majority of phone users. Can you include a link to something like a google map with all the places you can get discount?

  2. @eddie, I was sent a card. No idea where it is now, the last thing I needed was another piece of plastic in my wallet.

So does this app actually work, prior ones where totally rubbish ?

  3. Doesn’t work for me – just exits as soon as I log in (iOS8.1, iphone 5S). Never had this problem with the plastic card…

  4. “Our readers who are apple by a considerable margin”

    That’s pretty damning.
Got any stats on Audis, beards and moka pots too?

  5. Hi All,
I understand that by releasing our iOS app we have predictably made those without Apple flavoured devices unhappy.
So I thought it might be helpful to explain our strategy and plans in a bit more detail.
Firstly, this is actually the second release of our Digital Premier Members card. Since February 2013 we’ve had a Digital Members card optimised for phone use and available for any modernish device capable of rendering a web page. If you’re a logged in subscriber you can access yours here: Members card

It’s limited yes, but it essentially does provide you with a Digital Premier Card. However, for some time we’ve been wanting to do more with the Members Card. Particularly, we wanted to make it easier for our subscribers to find local offers.

Making everyone wait until we had app versions for all devices was not a sensible business approach, so we had to choose a platform to develop for first. A quick look at the statistics for this website is all that’s needed to explain our choice of iOS as the launch platform.
    mobile platforms

Regardless of Android sales stats, we know that more people are using iOS devices to access our services. If I look around at my tech staff colleagues I don’t see a single iPhone, we all use Android phones. However, I don’t doubt to a moment that developing for iOS first was the right choice. We’ll continue working on the Android app and as soon as it is ready we’ll get it to you.

Regarding iOS app crashes, please do send the crash reports when prompted. That way we get to see any issues and fix them.

  6. Patrick, do the crash reports only get sent when we sync with iTunes? (it depends on what you have used for crash reporting)

I don’t sync very often these days, but I’ll try to remember to do it tonight.

  7. Hi Graham,
I don’t own an iPhone (or an Audi, though I do have a beard and like coffee) so I’ll need to look into that. I’ll get back to you shortly.

Update: Right, you need to first enable crash reporting like so:
    crash reporting
Crash reports will then be sent to Apple when you synchronise your device with iTunes, either wired or wi-fi.
We as the app developers will then have access to them.

  8. I’ve got “Share with App Developers” on in my privacy settings so you should be able view my many crash reports (I tried it a few times). If not let me know and I’ll send you a sample.

  9. Thanks Ric, we should start getting reports soon then.

Iain, iPhone 4s supports iOS 8 should you wish to update it.
I am aware there are some users who are unhappy with 4s/iOS8 performance, don’t know enough to say whether the issues are substantial.

I’m planning to do some additional work on the web version to add the Premier Dealer offers should you choose not to update. In the meantime you can find them here. http://singletrackmag.com/premierclub/
