I hear what you’re saying but mountain biking is as much about the passion for the gear as it is for the riding (rightly or wrongly). That aside, we’re not alone; surfers decide whether to ride their Malibu, Mini-Mal, Short Board Pin Tail, Short Board Square Tail etc etc depending on the break so really – it’s the same sort of thing. And most of the surfers I know have a shed full of current and retired boards of all shapes and sizes. One bike / board is totally doable but half the fun is changing things up. Even picking the wrong tool for the job can be fun sometimes.
