Danny MacAskill’s new film – The Ridge

Here’s Danny’s latest video, The Ridge, in which Mr MacAskill tackles the wilderness of Skye in his own inimitable fashion. Warning – you may get vertigo:

Barney Marsh takes the word ‘career’ literally, veering wildly across the road of his life, as thoroughly in control as a goldfish on the dashboard of a motorhome. He’s been, with varying degrees of success, a scientist, teacher, shop assistant, binman and, for one memorable day, a hospital laundry worker. These days, he’s a dad, husband, guitarist, and writer, also with varying degrees of success. He sometimes takes photographs. Some of them are acceptable. Occasionally he rides bikes to cast the rest of his life into sharp relief. Or just to ride through puddles. Sometimes he writes about them. Bikes, not puddles. He is a writer of rongs, a stealer of souls and a polisher of turds. He isn’t nearly as clever or as funny as he thinks he is.

  1. Simply stunning. What I admire about Danny is that, whilst he has amazing riding talent, he doesn’t rely on just that to make a film. He – or at least his film-makers – make that extra effort to impress with all the other elements that make a film entertaining.

It certainly looks a lot different from the last time I was encased in fog on the Cuillin.

  2. No Barney… Saw it yesterday when the rest of the internet had it posted… The STW board of film classification must have been checking if it was suitable for us to view before they posted it.

  3. Gavstorie – I was a couple of hours late because I was busy (check the dates if you like).. sorry if I failed to meet your high expectations 🙂
