Singletrack in Afghanistan

It may be cold and drizzly here but being somewhere hot and sunny isn’t always a good thing – not just because getting your hands on paper copies of Singletrack Magazine can be tricky. While based in Kandahar airbase in Afghanistan Sgt Mick Park got in touch with us a while back to request a few back issues of the magazine so our new subscriptions manager Jamie sent them few to keep them going and here they are…

From left to right, SAC(T) Kev Smith, Cpl Richie Blood, (myself) Sgt Mick Park (Chipbutty on the forum) and SAC(T) James Redgrove, picture taken by SAC(T) Si Kitt.

“We are currently serving a 3 month tour in Afghanistan at Khandahar airfield and are due to return to RAF Lossiemouth in Morayshire mid January. We are pictured in front of one of our Tornado GR4s on which we are the hard working engineers, keeping them in the air.

Looking forward to returning in January so we can blow the cobwebs away. Unfortunately I’m going to miss out on the Straffpuffer this year…”

  1. Haha! Slabbed! Good effort boys!

You’ll be home by the time we (movers) get back out there. Hope you’ve had an un-eventful time out there. You’ve not missed much good riding, anyway!

  2. At least you get yours nice and early. Come up to Kabul (there’s snow and -20 temperatures on the way here, won’t be doing much riding though, bit risky what with all the old Soviet minefields and suicide bombers), we’re at least 2 weeks behind with post, newspapers, etc. At least you’ve got your mover pals there to look after you – RAF looking after their own as usual… 😉

Try being a subscriber back here 😉

(All the best for the rest of your time though)
