There are five days left to Christmas and if you’re looking for something for the cyclist in your life then now is the time to panic wildly and dash into the nearest bike shop so you don’t see the sad, half-hidden look of disappointment in their eyes when all they get is a puncture repair kit.
The only problem, once you’ve got the staff away from their cups of tea while they warm their hands around the till, is what to get. Here’s the first in our last minute series of helpful suggestions…
Singletrack Diner Mug

Don’t you find that hot things cool in it very quickly due to the large thermal mass of the mug? Preheated with some boiling water, it’s good, but from a cold cupboard your beverage can be sub-optimally cooled rapidly. Our kid.
I use that to my advantage. If I want a hot drink I want it now, not in 10 minutes.
Oddly, cold drinks don’t warm up in it.

Its certainly a very robust mug. Possibly one of the oldest in our cupboard, and may well have crushed other mugs in it’s path due to it’s incredibly sturdy construction.
I think I’ll have a coffee in it now actually.

i use mine for Bovril though, even though it doesn’t say it on the side.

Stuff from our shop is posted by 1st class post. That’s a different service to the bulk mailed (presstream) magazine service that RM provide. RM are prioritising 1st class post well above their Presstream service so a mug is likely to arrive in just a couple of days still.
If they made a Single Track plate I would eat beans and sausage off it. They don’t, so I had a sandwich.
I use the kids plastic plates when I make toast and no one is watching.
This is because a plastic plate has lower thermal mass.
I’m chuffing obsessed with this. I’ve only just noticed.
Still not had that coffee. Got talking to Dieter from Hotlines about stuff. And then had to vac up some glitter.

vacuuming up glitter is really hard. You’ll always miss a bit. then you’ll notice a small piece of it on your face later on.

Our stand-in Despatch Fairy, Beate, has weighed one of the new blue mugs and they appear to be 50g heavier(!) than the original, and substantial diner mug. This is due to a lack of butting in the coffee/lip liquid transfer interface. This makes it more suited for All-(Blue)-Mountain use and a bit of FreeSlurping(tm). It uses the new I.S. 75mm/7mm i/d+wall thickness standard for advanced performance coffee mugs… You can get a tapered adaptor if you’d like to run lighter drinks, like Vimto or Bovril, but it’s really designed for coffee.
The joy of these mugs is that you warm the cup first and then your drink remains hot and refreshing for longer. It also retains the heat so that your second cuppa is as good as the first.

It’s not just Bold New Graphics – this mug has ‘Densathon’ in it to make it more dense. This new, heavier, mug makes it less likely to be deflected as it travels to your mouth.
HOW MUCH FOR A MUG! I know the price of ceramics has gone up in china but this is a joke, I got my 08 mug for £5 and this is the mug industry taking us for mugs plain and simple. If you buy this you are just a rich idiot, plus I reckon I can drink tea faster than you from my old 08 mug, even with all your fancy Densathon in the 10 model.
I would buy one if I could get my subscriber logon to work … pffff come on STW still no mag shop logon doesn’t work .. doing really well here.
