Sanny brings news of the UK cinema tour of the eagerly anticipated and stunning HD movie Lifecycles, now updated with prizes in Glasgow, nightriding, free beer and hotdogs in Nany Yr Arian and a new date in Edinburgh. Don’t foget it’s your last chance as a Premier user to win tickets…
Dates have been announced for the UK cinema tour of “Lifecycles”, probably the most anticipated mountain bike film ever. The creative work of ace mountain bike photographer , Derek Frankowski, whose work regularly graces the pages of “Bike” magazine and celebrated film maker, Ryan Gibb, “Lifecycles” has been over three years in the making. Shot entirely in HD and envisaged from the very start of the project as being made to be shown on the big screen in high definition and 5.1 surround sound, “Lifecycles” follows the life of the bicycle from its creation through to its ultimate demise.

The film features the cream of the crop of riding talent and couples it with some truly breathtaking locations. At a sneak industry preview of a rough cut of the film in Whistler in August, the film received a standing ovation and glowing praise with one industry insider likening it to National Geographic meets The Collective.
The UK tour coincides with the release of the film on DVD. Copies of the film can be pre-ordered from www.lifecyclesfilm.com and will be distributed in Europe by www.x-tremevideo.com who have generously lent their support to the tour.
For everyone who catches the tour in the cinema, they will enjoy not just “Lifecycles” but also the latest feature from Ionate Films called “VAST”. Shot entirely on location in Europe spanning locations such as the Swiss Alps, the stunning Ligurian coastline, the broad spaces of Provence and the streets of Berlin, VAST presents a uniquely European take on the freeride mountain bike film genre. While the riders may not necessarily be household names, their riding speaks for itself. A perfect companion piece for Lifecycles guaranteed to make you want to get out and ride. See the trailer at www.ionatefilms.com
The tour kicks off with the European Cinema Premiere in Glasgow at the GFT (www.gft.org.uk) on Thursday 11th November at 8.30pm before doing a limited tour of venues across the UK.

whaaaaat?!? no Bath date, come on boys at MBUK you’re letting the side down!
Presumably there’s not felt to be enough interest in mountain biking in the Scottish capital (with Glentress on its doorstep) to warrant a showing in Edinburgh.
Hello
Inverness date is actually the 3rd of Feb 2011. Sorry about that!
No Bath date as there wasn’t enough interest for Follow Me to make a screening worthwhile. Planning for Edinburgh in descrmbet and Southampton but dates to be confirmed.
That should say December. Blooming iPhone!
No Aberdeen? I guess the half empty cinema for Follow Me probably scuppers our chances?
Aberdeen did really well for Follow Me. It got put in the bigger cinema as it sold out the wee one which was more than I had expected. Over 100 folk turned out for it which was great.
Cheers
Sanny
Jolly good – I’l keep my eye on the announcements.
Ah good! Inverness now changed for the correct date!
Rheged will be showing both Lifecycles and Follow Me in HD and surround sound on the BIG screen.
Cheers
Sanny
All the best films are shown alongside Vast. Can’t wait
tickets bought for glasgow!!
Hanging out for Southampton dates.
Sanny, I went to the showing of follow me in bristol and it was sold out?! We also had 150 turn up to watch and race bikes down a grassy slope, there must be enough interest surely?!
I found this thread after posting this:
http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/life-cycles-why-no-bristol-premiere
Hi Sanny,
do you know if they will be selling copies of the film at the gft?
cheers
dave
Well done. Yet again Manchester is missed out. Gateway to the peaks? Quite a large city? Ring any bells? ffs.
Where’s Dublin? I know it’s only partially UK (when convenient) but the Lighthouse Cinema was full. Cycle Surgery, c’mon guys!
Hi guys
Andy I share your frustration!
Manchester has been a tough nut to crack. Cornerhouse have no interest in screening mountain bike films. If you can suggest an alternative independent cinema, that would be ace! Manchester is definitely somewhere I want to show films!
Bristol. Working on it.
Dublin isn’t going to happen as the Irish Film Classification Board charge over £300 to classify the film meaning it’s just too expensive to put on for 1 screening. Shame as I really like the cinema I used for Follow Me.
Any questions, just holler!
Hi guys
Just a quickie to say that Southampton has been added below!
Also, the Glasgow screening will have spot prize giveaways courtesy of Carl at www,bikelove.co.uk.
The Welsh screening will have a pre screening night ride with free beer and hotdog for all riders!
Cheers
Sanny

Interested to see how the Banff tour works as I know that the Mitchell Theatre in Glasgow isn’t great when it comes to film screenings. Tiny screen and the sound reproduction isn’t great. Shame they aren’t using the GFT. I know the guys at Lifecycles have been very specific in wanting cinemas that screen HD and in 5.1 surround sound.
Oh. Cock.
I saw a Facebook invite for the 17th November, and assumed is was for the one here in Vancouver at UBC. Nope, that was last night (28th Oct) and I obviously didn’t go. 17th is for back in Sheffield. Tits and arse.
Just thought, I was even at UBC yesterday morning! Cruel luck, but typical of my planning abilities 🙁
