Steve Peat took a time of 4:44.27 but a big surprise was Junior rider Danny Hart who managed to sit in the hot seat for a good time while some big names failed to remove him. Cedric Gracia lived up to his showboating image with a massive no hander off the Visit Scotland jump after chain issues put him out of the running. Ben Cathro also looked to be on fire through the first two sections of the course but what looked like a bent crank left him unable to pedal through the last section and all the pumping in the world couldn’t help.
