Press Release schpiel…

Structurally, this is a full carbon frame that utilises alloy interfaces in critical areas (such as in the headtube bearing journals and bottom bracket). The high modulus carbon in specially designed layers and layup patterns create a light, strong frame and the alloy interfaces allow the precise tolerances that critical component interface areas demand.

Computer designed tubes were run through extensive  FEA programming to optimise carbon fibre’s inherent strengths and hit very specific targets for stiffness and strength in all three planes. Key sections such as the downtube and bottom bracket area have received massive structural shaping to increase torsional rigidity and the swooping lines and angles of the Air 9 Carbon are functionally beautiful before they are aesthetically pleasing. All these features help to disperse energy, avoid stress risers and increase the natural damping characteristics of the material.

The Air 9 Carbon features Bio-Centric EBB technology and CYA Bottom Bracket system – the most flexible BB/gearing system available. Run your Niner singlespeed or geared or take advantage of several BB inserts to accommodate your choice of bottom bracket technologies, including the new BB-30 standard.

  1. Shipping, import duty, tax, distributor’s markup (which includes stocking the things, advertising and marketing them, standing around at events with them), more shipping, bike shop markup (which includes buying one to have in stock so that you can paw it, building it up, dealing with any warranty issues on your behalf and generally making sure you’re happy with your purchase.)

How come Levis are $35 in the States and £45 here? They just are 🙂

  2. Will some-one please make a non niche carbon frame that will take more than 100m sus fork, but looks like that.. Much as I admire On One I can’t see the carbon 456 being as nice looking.

    Thanks

  3. Lovely looking bike, but I have the horrible suspicion that £1,000 of that price is for the paint job.

    Still want one though 🙂

yes but thats exactly the same for the american distributor they have to advertise and market them and stock them and import them and ship them in from where ever they are built, there is no difference your making my point for me, a american company is doing all the things you mention for a reasonable price

    the british company is not

specialized epic $2800 dollars and £2000 here, some how they seam to have found a much better exchange rate than niner!!

  6. Lets say you were happy to pay £1500 for it.

The time spent questioning the price could have been worked..and the extra money earned.

    ;O)
