Offering accommodation for up to 14 people, bike hire, a café serving local produce, secure bike store and a state-of-the-art cycle workshop for repairs and maintenance, the centre is owned and run by mountain bike enthusiast, instructor and qualified cycle mechanic, Stuart Price and his wife Brenda.
The renovated barn complex, on the main Reeth road, has been designed and built to be environmentally friendly and sustainable. It has ground source heating and energy efficient appliances, everything possible is recycled or composted and all cleaners and bike lubes are environmentally friendly. The latest innovation is a bike-wash which will re-use water.
Owner, Stuart Price, said: “As bike enthusiasts, we are thrilled to be offering a way for more people to enjoy this beautiful part of the country by bike as well as giving them a place for a hot shower, some great food and a good night’s sleep after a day’s cycling. We are a gateway location to explore the extensive bridleway network nearby, the off-road Coast to Coast route and the Sustrans route 71 pass within a few metres of our doorstep, plus the Yorkshire Dales Cycleway route is just 1km away”
Part-funded by grants from the Rural Enterprise Investment Program fund as part of the Rural Development Program for England administered by Yorkshire Forward and the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority’s Sustainable Development Fund which is managed by the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust, the centre is equipped to cater for solo travellers, groups, corporate events and families.

Marc Atkinson of Richmond Cycling Club was at the opening: “We are incorporating a stop at the Café here in almost all of our rides now. The facilities and the homemade food are fantastic.”
Owner, Brenda Price, is excited about the impact of their future plans: “We have a programme of events running throughout the year, which we’re sure will attract many new visitors to the area so that’s got to be good news for local businesses”.

Didn’t know you had so many hunchbacks in t’yorkshire
9 of us had the full dales bike centre experience last weekend. 2 nights b + b @ 21 quid a night, 30 mile ride on saturday with 5000 ft climbing and never more than 5 miles from the centre. book early!
Will have to call in for tea and cakes nect time I’m passing.

Stayed here during August, accomodation was what you needed – all the basics (bunks beds, clean seets and duvets, showers) plus more (good kitchen facilities, inc microwave, with the milk, T&Coffee provided). Stu and wife and staff were brilliant hosts. A winning combo with access to localroads (quiet) and trails, bridal ways dotted all over. Oh yes the also do post cycle repairs in the bike workshop, with the option of Coffee’s n cakes, or even more. Winner all the way. Will# be back when they got space as its diary is rammed full of bookings.
