Ok, to sort out the tags, which we all love, and to make sure they stay within the bounds of a) being vaguely useful for searching etc. and b) stay within limits of taste and decency, here are the rules..

1) Tags must be no longer than three words - any longer and they will be deleted
2) Tags must follow the same rules of the forum ie.. no swearing or personal abuse.
3) Tags must be relevant to the thread. They will be deleted if we think they are not.
4) Tags of contributors names will be deleted. Calm that ego.

We may modify or add to these rules from time to time so make sure you check every now and then to keep yourself updates.

Gross or persistent rule breakers will have their accounts suspended.

It is your forum and you can do what you want. But it was fun while it lasted. 🙂

Is banter classed as personal abuse, or is that on the call of the mods?

That'd be deleted under Rule 3, wouldn't it?

If SFB argues, can I add my "sfb argues" tag?

"Mark - Administrator
Simon.. You broke rule 3..

is that post in itself not a contravention of rule 2?

On the subject of tags: at the moment the tag cloud on the summary page is dominated by the classifieds is there any way the bike and chat forums could also have their own clouds?

Oh - and is there anyway to use tags to do a search if they aren't in the cloud on the summary page?

http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/tags/ shows you the most popular tags

Just stick a word on the end of the URL to find those tags, such as http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/tags/on-one.

Presumably, doing a normal forum search also includes the tags?

Good to see that one of the tags on here breaks 2 of the rules (and it's not mine before you ask) 😉

I wish I could tag the things I REALLY mean but I've already been banned.

"SFB being an arse" Should surely be an exception to the rule.

This has recently spawned into A&A (Aesthetic & Athletic) to celebrate the female form in sport.

sexist rotters! I think you must also allow the posting of the male form too. And possibly shapely aliens.

I have always made it entirely clear that the A&A is more than open for the ladies to post their appreciation. Who knows, some of the chaps may appreciate that sort of thing as well. The A&A was always intended as a far more varied and interesting replacement for the aged Antipodean warbler, and one where anything that fits in to being both athletic AND aesthetic is welcome.

Am thinking of a team sports edition this week.

Perhaps it needs rephrasing as:

This has recently spawned into A&A (Aesthetic & Athletic) to celebrate the human form in sport.

Agreed, Aleigh! A&A needs to stay clean! As put very well here;

Also, I've only just realised that A&A has now made it in to the rules! Being a bit dull today I hadn't really clicked that this is why it was being discussed here! A&A is now official.....it's here to stay...!

Because it's encompassed in the other rules and doesn't need a rule of it's own.

You can't post images of men in general as that would break the rules. You can, however, follow the rules of the A&A and join in there, like everyone else.
