Without going into detail and receiving a barrage of accusations about it all being my fault, a word to the wise...

Shiny Bikes are a bag shite on many levels, so be warned if you're tempted by the prices alone !

If you think it's going to be perceived as your fault why should we take your word about the rest of your post? Maybe if you explained what the issue was and how they dealt with it people could reach their own conclusions?

I've used them and had a decent service.

It's a warning based on my own experiences. If you want to carry on using them despite that then that's your choice and the choice of anyone else who cares to use them. Just don't say I didn't warn you !

I'm not saying I'd walk into a minefield because someone put a sign up saying 'warning mines' and I hadn't previously trodden on a mine so ignored it but some sort of justification for telling people to avoid a shop is probably necessary?

I can't tell you why but I'm going to slate a business and try to put you off using them.

Works for me
🙄

I'm fairly sure you're not a competing business trying to trash your opposition but on a fairly anonymous forum you need some context/reason as others have said.

Goods ordered. Took nearly 3 weeks to arrive. Goods arrived in a supermarket food box and no other packaging (very lucky not to have been damaged in transit). Day after the order was placed he dropped the price of said goods (significantly). We spoke about it (nicely) and he offered to refund difference (his offer not my demand). Despite several friendly telephone conversations over the last 6 weeks in which he's continually offered to refund the difference and made many excuses for not following through, no refund. Now won't reply to emails.

'IN MY EXPERIENCE'...Poor packaging, poor delivery and poor customer service.

Or.

Goods arrived As described and undamaged, paid the price as agreed at the time of sale.
Bit slower delivery than expected though.

Goods arrived As described and undamaged,
hmm, shite motorists have argued that as they haven't actually hit me the dodgy overtake they just did was safe. /melodrama
OP can argue packaging was shite even if his goods turned up intact
paid the price as agreed at the time of sale
true however, dunno why the OP got into a discussion about the price drop if he wasn't demanding a refund, but if the shop agreed to refund the difference then has dodged the issue that is a bit shit.

If I have a choice between a really really nice box with smashed contents or an old cornflakes box with the contents in perfect condition, I go for the former 🙄 Yes he can think it's crap, but a reason for avoiding a retailer? Only if you're a bit strange.

true however, dunno why the OP got into a discussion about the price drop if he wasn't demanding a refund, but if the shop agreed to refund the difference then has dodged the issue that is a bit shit.

I'd imagine if we hear the shop's side of the story, it's probably a little different. Maybe not but he doesn't come across as someone who will let anything lie. People who flounce from their own thread with minimal provovation aren't always the most objective.

I think the OP has legitimate complaints. If ship said they woul refund difference, then they should. Also, 3 weeks is taking the piss for delivery. Unless this timeframe was pointed out at time of sale.

I wasn't passing judgement either way atlaz merely pointing out the OPs argument wasn't entirely devoid of merit.

Sounds bit rubbish to me (now with some context). If the goods are in your hands or even despatched but not got to you and the price changes that's just bad timing (though you could return and reorder through distance selling regs) but when the retailer then faffs around for days before despatching and the price changes during this period a good retailer should adjust the price without prompting. To then not deliver on promised partial refund whilst the 7 days for distance selling regs expire is not cool.

Not a good experience....not Dave Hinde poor... but not good.

Why I won't Shiny Bikes again:
Ordered part 2 weeks ago.Money taken out of my account next day. Nothing for 1 week. Tried phoning them and sent 2 emails. Eventually got email reply saying part out of stock and would be in next week. Replied to say wanted to cancel order and recredit my card. Heard nothing from them so had to phone again. Got through to guy who sounded as if I had woken him up and didn't really care. Knew nothing about my email to cancel order. No apology or any suggestion their service was not really what customers want. Said would sort it out for me and recredit card in a ' I'm not really going to do that but get you off the phone ' way.
Needless to say no money returned yet. What a big pile of steaming s##t

Shop local and it won't happen. Easy, innit?

Not my experience. I recently tried to buy something from an LBS. Firstly, they didn't have it in stock. However, they could order it over the web (sound familiar?) but would have to charge me 65% more than the online price for basically ordering over the web. When I declined their generous offer ( I expected to pay more than the web price, just not THAT much more ), a hissy fit was provided for me courtesy of one of "managers" complaining about time spent talking to me (5 mins).
😐

When I walked into the shop, I wanted to give them the business, knowing I'd pay a little more in shop, compared to buying online. But after the experience I received, I reconsidered.

This thread has reminded me that I need to chase them over a small order which I placed in July, half of which never arrived. Communication to date has been underwhelming.

A reasonable number of regulars also seem to have got poor service though. Looks like a "no smoke without fire" scenario to me.

SHINYBIKES ARE RIP OFF MERCHANTS
Seriously MasterCard are getting the money back for a 1.2k frameset which was not delivered.
The process was this:
Pay for frameset (instock apparently)
No framset after a week : So I phone them.
"It's coming in 2 weeks" say shinyBikes.
2 weeks time, no framset and no communication from them to me.
Over a months time, an hefty credit card bill to pay, and no frame.
ITS DAYLIGHT ROBBERY

Seriously they need to have their merchants bank account thing removed.
My finances are getting hit. I've got the frame from Winstanleys in the meantime and it's nearly built.

I had the same, phoned up several times, each time they said that the cancellation would be processed and the refund made.

I must have sounded suitably p1ssed off enough to make them think I was going to take action the last time, was pointing out that they were repeating the same story, etc, and I got a refund.

The guy from bikes****y had said that he hoped that I would get the frame, so maybe he knew of their reputation...

A friend in my club has had a similar experience, paid for a frameset, heard nothing for several weeks despite e-mailing them. Contacted them to request a refund otherwise he'd open a paypal dispute, they said 'go on then'. I'd avoid.

Just Googled the company and got this set of contact details - 01978 355280, based out of Rhostyllen Wrexham, LL14 4EG but the website gives a set of contact details in Co. Antrim, so, the question is why 2 sets of contact details?

Hello everybody.
And yeas I came here to slag off this shop too 🙂
I'm replacing my PF30, on Wednesday before I placed an order, had called them to confirm availability and make sure I get it by Friday.
I was assured that if the order is placed by midday it would be sent by first class the same day and would be with me on the next day.
Thursday gone, nothing. Called them today ( Friday) and was told that the item was going today, ugrrrrr. Having the backlog, it was the reason apparently. If I was told that on the first day I called them, I'd source the bb from somebody else and everybody would be happy with no hard fillings.
But, screwing somebody's Saturday ride is unforgettable and it's a hanging offense 😉

Another vote here for customer service totally lacking. Ordered some wheels that were apparently in stock, for them not to be in stock. If you go to the effort of having some stock indicator on your site you'd better be using it. I only took the chance on them as they were one of few dealers I could find with the item.

Being in a bit of a hurry asked to cancel via email to receive no reply and quite a few unanswered phone calls.

Figured I'd wait for them in the end, but got a refund several weeks later without ever having received any contact from them! Happy ending, but it would have been nice to have been able to order elsewhere in the meantime.

Bought something entirely different from local shop in the end. Nice lads. Happy to give them my money.

Warning from me too - order a frame early December, website said instock. A few days later asked if it was, told no but would be delivered in a week or so. Rang again told by end of year, nothing by early Jan so cancelled and told its just come into stock (reall?) but I pressed for a refund. No refund a month later so contacted credit card to investigate.

I will never use them again. I had ordered a Selle Italia SLR seat and 31.6mm seat post combo, but was sent the SLS seat and 27.2mm seat post. I phoned them and they said to return these which I did recorded delivery, at my own expense. They then said they would send the proper items to me, and despite regular calls and emails they have not done so. I paid with PayPal and have raised a dispute, and have asked them to cancel the order and refund, still no reply...

He started out of his house in wrexham, moved to a unit with no consent to use as retail and then moved to Ireland.I assume the company is still registered to the original address.
He is not a very nice little man.If you knew him then none of this would surprise you particularly.

It ain't slander, quote them this.....

"Under common law, to constitute defamation, a claim must generally be false and have been made to someone other than the person defamed. Some common law jurisdictions also distinguish between spoken defamation, called slander, and defamation in other media such as printed words or images, called libel."

You left a video comment on facebook? Or does he mean libel? I suspect his solicitor will put him straight (hopefully about more than his English usage).

If he was as interested in returning his customers' cash as he appears to be about threatening them, then perhaps his reputation would be in better nick.

Then again, perhaps his stated intent to visit a solicitor carries as much weight as his stated intent to process a refund.
