Hi
I got a pair of MW81's off Santa 2y ago and they have just about had it
The ankle cuff thing has separated from the boot thing on each of them
Annoyingly the rest is fine and wearing well which as theyre only worn for 3 months of the year is no surprise
Has anyone else had this problem and then had any joy claiming on warranty?
At 2y I have a feeling CRC will laugh at me 🙁
Cheers
I'm replacing my MW80s with MW81s this winter. Seems fair as I've had the originals for 6 years.
You did well making them last that long!
Mine fell apart, in the same way in 1 winter. I'm still wearing my summer shoes with overshoes for the commute as i can't be arsed with another pair.
Northwave next time i think
Scotroutes - like you, I thought my old Shimano winter boots had lasted years so would replace with the newer ones... Like the op, though, found they started dropping to bits after one winter.
I've had other Shimano shoes come apart too, plus the sizing changed. I'll won't be buying anymore!
" plus the sizing changed "
you sure ?
I've had about 5 different Shimano MTB shoes in the past 10 years, XC and boots, all size 44 - they've all fitted exactly the same...
Yeah, mine are falling apart. The join between the neoprene cuff and the main boot is not brilliant, and made 100 times worse because the loop you use to pull the shoes on inserts into the neoprene and not anything more substantial. Anyway, I've nursed them through 3 winters so far (including some DIY sewing) but I'll be looking for some new boots in the spring sales. Probably Northwave as above.
Madison told me mine were falling apart because "I got them wet"
Mine have gone in the same place, but they do get worn regularly all year round (let's face it, they aren't particularly warm, and it doesn't really stay dry for long). That said, my old Adidas boots lasted at least 4yrs, gutted they discontinued them.
The sole fell off on mine! not even 2 years old.
the 'pull the shoe on' loop on My first pair failed after a couple of months. They were warrantied no problem. They have since been worn for every wet and every winter commute over the last 4 years. Only now is the neoprene cuff starting to show signs of failing.
Asked santy for a new pair of the same....
