The sharp eyed amongst you may have noticed a few clues over the past fortnight or so, but I think it's about time we had another Peaks Pootle!

So, on November 2nd we'll have a little run out from Hope, 10am. Meet at the car park next to the loos - conveniently across the road from the woodbine cafe and 18 Bikes.

As always, it's a social affair - cakes are encouraged - and the normal Pootle principles stand ( though I can't find th original ones, my Google fu is week today)

Basically...

If you're fast, be prepared to wait at the top of hills and count people through
If you're slow, you're not alone - bring banter! You'll be with good company. And hora.

Basically, I set up the Pootles for those people at the back. We don't have people at the back in a Pootle. We have a rest, a chat, enjoy the view.

See you there!

My google-fu is teh awsumz
1) if you're fast, hold the gates and count the folks through
2) if you're slow - have something to talk about with the other 20 people with you
3) bring cake
Pootles aren't a typical 'group ride'. I started them 'cos I hated being the person at the back. I wanted a group ride for the people at the back. There aren't any people at the back in a pootle.

I'm in.

It's a rigid compatible route. Except for the 40ft double and 20ft step down....

I'd say it's 'red' graded

Any clue as to the route?

I'm a possibly maybe depending on expected distance (or more importantly, which hills!) and my fitness, I've barely ridden for a year!

Maybe, pending the above.

I'm in.

Will be my first mtb ride in quite a while so I'm better off on a pootle than my usual re-introduction after a break of trying to follow @nosedive in the dark down some precipitous flight of greasy off-camber steps he hasn't bothered to mention.

EDIT: suppose I'd better check the bike still works and consider fitting tyres that actually have some tread...

Gah! Sudden realisation that I am down in Bristol visiting my Sister. Bu66er.
Should be a good weekend though, as I am trying to persuade my Bro-in-Law to sneak off to Cwm Carn for the morning to try out his recently purchased Trek Superfly....

Probably 2 or 3 of us coming over from N. Lincs for the Pootle on some proper hills. Some may be weather dependent, but I expect to be there whatever, as the scenery is better and the mud is less sticky than ours.

Oh poop, I'll be away in Wales trying to keep up, a pootle would have been much more appropriate for current levels of 'fitness'.

Last years was grand, enjoy yourselves and if in doubt - go 🙂

Hora - you've been AWOL more than once on our rides...

We're not riding rushup edge. In fact, I don't think I'll be rushing back to Edale any time soon.

We're doing some fun, challenging trails but nothing that will kill any one new to group riding. I'll properly plot it later to get distance and stuff worked out.

OK folks. So, the planned route is 19 miles with. 2400ft climb. However, that distance has surprised me so there are a number of short cuts available.

One removes 500ft and 3 miles, the second 400ft and 3.2 miles. There are more too, but we can look at these on the day if folk need them.

Don't be put off by the distance, at least 6 miles is on quiet tarmac linking our bumpy bits up.

Hello folks, me again!

Just a few more details for you to prepare you for the Pootle experience...

10am at the main car park in Hope. It's small-ish but we should be ok. I've not yet counted up how many people are coming though last time out we had 52 and we coped; obviously the chance of a mechanical goes up though.

Please bring spares and tools. Strap loose bits tightly to the bike - we once had a half hour wait (and a long run for me) to find an errant garmin.

As always we'll have a little collection - just a few pennies for the mountain rescue.

And we'll go to the pub after! Either the Travellers or the Old Hall. I'll decide later.

Looking forward to it 🙂
