You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Were any plans made last week?
If not I can do one out of Prestwich taking in Philips, Outwood, Fletcher’s Canal, Meccano Bridge, Nob End, Port Stanley Runway, Children of The Corn, Bolton Poo Works and The Clifton Cheekies.
I can also arrange for pie.
We're due pie. I vote pie.
Pie is good. - Binners, subject to weather - I may ride down. What say you?
Lee
Lee, I'll ride down. May not make it back though.
Yeah, I'd be up for riding over, and a pie fuelled return journey 😀
i'd enjoy a prestwich jaunt.
i'll possibly even bring my own pie, devoid of animal bits and whatnot.
Pub phoned.
Pie ordered.
My local. I'm in.
Smashing.
Details:
Church Inn, Church Lane, Prestwich.
M25 1AJ
8:15 Blast Off
Bring money for beer and pie
Newcomers welcome.
Pace is moderate.
Banter is high (unless it is blowing horizontal sleet and everyone is trapped in their own World of Misery).
Distance will be about 20km / 2hours.
Trail centre, woodland singletrack, fire road and canals.
Nobody gets dropped.
Aha, should be ok for this. Are we doing The Fenceposts Of Doom again?
Probably. It has been ages since I crushed a knuckle. (not a euphemism)
Fiver on someone knocking a tooth out. Probably me.
Yay, I'm coming to the pub bit. See you there.
...and you are? 😉
Fiver on someone knocking a tooth out. Probably me.
Or knocking themselves out. Which reminds me, I still haven't replace that helmet 😯
Is scaled coming? I need to know as it influences bike choice...
Working Monday so should be there as I'll not be tempted on an afternoon ride, there is also Black pudding pie as an extra incentive, but as a minus I owe Binners money, though there may be good chance of him not turning up.
I'm in
I'm in
Mmmm pie
fenceposts of doom? that bit along the irwell on the way back to phillips park?
Yeah, someone's clipped 'em and crashed right in front of me twice now on there and dazh tried to knock one out of the ground with his head, it's becoming quite a trend.
fenceposts of doom?
Clipped one the first time I went down on the new bike... what with it being 80mm wider than the old one. Bars spun through 120° and ended up with a little finger that turned the colour and shape of a dead alligator's willy.
To be fair you kept it upright and dazh no one saw it...
I'm in Spain for a long weekend.
My MNPR attendance is shocking this year - i will try and put things right in the near future!
Be aware when going up the cobbled road on the other side of the M60 that you have lost me as the sweeper upper. tantrums have been known in that area! 😀
i've lost 3 bar end plugs on those posts, yes. stayed upright though.
craig, i'll miss you keeping me company at the back on that road but as long as we're clear which way we're going up there, i'm sure it'll be all good. wait at the main road at the top end, as per? yeah. good.
Probably not doing the road/cobbled climb anyway... unless we do.
Bump.
I'm in, the bike will be fettled tonight in anticipation
I've just put wider bars on. Must remember this if we ride the fence posts of doom
Anyone else playing out?
Couple of us coming over from Tod. There better not be anything resembling a fire road on this route.
Waddayamean?
Yep. CU L8R, (as the youth used to say about 10 years ago)
edit - are we doing the fence posts of doom on the way out tonight or the way back? I'm going to cut about 50mm off my handlebars, I need to know left or right.
Its the bit in the middle you want to take out
Waddayamean?
A reference to Saturday's madness. It's tempting to bring the cx bike tonight to ensure a safe negotiation of the fence posts but my arms and shoulders are demanding the comfort of some suspension forks and big fat tyres.
I'm trying to find a route that avoids the fence posts.
Leave them in I reckon, I've learnt my lesson on that bit and shall be employing the brakes this time instead of trying to thread my way through a gap with a couple of inches of clearance at 20mph.
I quite enjoy the fenceposts too. Its a lot worse in daylight when you can see the big drop into the river on the other side of them
I'll stick with the hardtail tonight with its svelte bar width 🙂
What time do you lot reckon on being at the church? I'm working fairly local this afternoon and I [s]want to get there first and get the pick of the pies[/s] will try to get there as you land back at the pub.
10:15ish
Just finished re fitting the pikes after just getting them back from repair so plan to be there.
I was totally going to come to this one tonight (my first) but I've done my ankle in coming up short by about 5 foot on a 6 foot gap jump at Revs. Next time. Enjoy the pies.
I'm Susaning out here. Got a cold and a case of the CBAs. Have fun, look out for fenceposts.
Call me Susan I'm out need to carry on with fitting our new kitchen.
Please nobody else cry off. If I see a picture of Susan Boyle it's going to put that cover version of Wild Horses into my head.
Balls. I did it to myself.
Top night over 15.5 miles at a fairly hot pace.
My pint did not survive long....
After about half an hour my stomach was asking for food.. I think I inhaled my pie 😉 good fun
A jerk pork pie has never tasted so good.
Cheers for the tow, Daz 😀
Great run that tonight chaps. 16 miles at a fair old pace, and everyone survived the fence posts of death ! 🙂
The pork, cheese and pickle pie was awesumz
We did eat all the pies last night.
Worth mentioning.
Although it may not have looked like it, I actually enjoyed that. Two pies, a packet of crisps and a pint at the end helped though.
Enjoyed that, although it felt like a training ride not a farting about in the woods with your mates ride.
I'm bringing the cx bike next time for the poo works sprint so scaled won't have the gears to be a wheelsucking parasite.
Next week... Edenfield, Cragg, Trubines.
i.e. farting about.
