You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
As explained in WW's post here, we're trying to raise some more cash for Jenns charities.

We should be able to do it between us lot. After all, its a forum mainly populated by bored, middle aged, middle class people who spend frankly ludicrous sums of money on fancy push bikes 😉
So...we auctioned off some of my artwork last weekend after the jennride and raised £150. I kept one of the prints back (as the pub was full of roadies, and I wanted a more apropriate audience for this one)
So I'll bung it on here now. Whoever gives the biggest donation before next friday lunchtime, gets this. So its not an auction as such. Its whoever gives the biggest donation gets it.
Its the perfect man cave accessory. It'll look great on the wall while you're idle sipping 'artisan' ale and drunkenly wielding a hammer in the general direction of one of your many bikes
Its A1 size (mahoosive), window mounted and framed. But not only that. Its got a scratch across the top of the glass where it was sat by Chipps desk. yes... a little piece of history. The editor himself of this esteemed organ could have done that, maybe with a titanium pedal that cost more than the GDP of Portugal.
So see who can give the biggest donation before then and I'll package it up and send it to you. Shall we say midday on Friday?
That's brilliant Binners!
I will start the bidding with a (very low) offer of £20
DrP
😉
DrP, think you've mis-read it.
Basically this seems to be a make a donation , then whoever is the highest, wins.
I've had a ponder about this approach, and whilst I do get it as a principle for raising max dosh, I think in practice it needs a steer.
I've employed some special advisers, run some algorithms and the conclusion was that to raise the most money, do it in small increments - £2 was suggested.
Of course this could be blx, but what do you expect from special advisers?
Plus, no need to conform to this idea of course, but I'm throwing it out there, and kicking it off with the first bid.
£2
That's clearly bollox. To become the highest unique donation, sticking to round numbers is for idiots. £3.37 donated.
[goes away to rethink strategy]
😀
It's a great strategy - lots of people donating price of a pint or two in tiny increments is a winner.
Sorry Binners for interfering, just think it's the best way of raising ££.
If not, blame Tarquin.
Right you lot and your bloody systems and strategies
Pull your bloody fingers out, and lets see them in action 😛
Not that I don't like to talk about all the things I do for charity, but I did do my donation yesterday using my eBay way - straight in with the top buck and wait and hope.
It was a joke... my post was identical to the 'confused' one that sparked this separate thread and required all the explanation of the....Oh forgettit....!
DrP
Any more for any more?
Or is this all strategy? 😀
Well this is all very disappointing after such a magnanimous act of generosity from Binners. I've not been around much and am struggling to see what we are being asked to donate to? Just seen the awful news about Jenn, so understand that. Anyway, explain where we are with donations and I'll try and help.
Well we've got a couple of hours to donate. Well... you've got all your life to donate really.
Knowing how annoying I generally am, would it help the bidding if you get to kick me in the nadgers if you win, as well as getting the artwork.
Come on FFS!!! We can do better than this, surely?
Righty ho..... who am I sending this too then?
The biggest donation has been made anonymously
Ooooh, was it me?
Mr Binners, I've sent an email to the address in your profile just in case it is.
